I have one dark, forrest green eye, and the other is a dark, cofee brown. They are pretty much the same brightness, both are dark. What makeup colors would work for both?

I want to be able to get my own ideas and well, kind of sell myself a little better. What’s the best brands of makeup to use? Is Smashbox really all that great or is there better?

MAC really is the best because all of their shadows, cheek colors, lip colors, etc are so highly pigmented that they are great to blend, easy to apply, fun to layer, and will show up true in the photograph. I help out a friend who is a photographer on styling a lot, and the makeup I use on the models is is 90% MAC, and the rest is Smashbox, Nars, Chanel, Too Faced, and Urban Decay. Let me tell you though, you really can’t beat Maybelline Great Last mascara!

definitely go for a shimmery silver eyeshadow (NYX cosmetics has a great glittery one) with black eyeliner across the lids of your eyes and a little mascara

I use olive oil to take off my make up (baby oil works too). Then just use a daily cleanser. I recommend exfoliating twice a week as well.

But, there’s also the fact that I heard makeup ruins your skin and you’ll regret it later. How true is this? Can you wear makeup and still prevent premature wrinkles and such? I do wash my face everynight to take off the makeup and I use a moisturizer.

1] Not true – makeup will not ruin your skin, unless you use stuff that is not non-comedogenic [ doesn't cause zits ] or don’t remove it properly.
2] Skin care is what preserves good skin
3] buy a face wash [ NOT bar soap, or body wash ], toner, sunscreen, and moisturizer for your skin type.
a] wash, tone, and screen in AM;
b] wash, tone, and moisturize in PM.
c] add a rich eye cream in your late 20s
4] exfoilate with an apricot scrub [ your skin ytpe, again ] twice a week – removes dead skin cells, old oil, and dried sebum that clog pores; and evens out skin tone
5] eat well – avoid fried, fast, and junk food – even diet
6] take a good quality multivitamin with minerals daily
7] drink 1/2 gallon of water daily
8] DON’T SMOKE – not even a little; not ANY kind of cigarettes
9] wear sunglasses – prevents crow’s feet, and protects from cataracts too!

1. Eyeshadow (singles and quads) Revlon is pretty good and Urban Decay, MAC, and NYX are good, too.
2. Eyeliner Revlon, Almay, MAC, Urban Decay, and NYX are all good.
3. Lipgloss. I like Revlon!
4. Foundation. Revlon Colorstay.
5. Blush. Physician’s Formula.
6. Bronzer. Physician’s Formula.
7. Eyelash Curler. I have Revlon.
8. Brushes. Revlon, Sonia Kashuk, MAC, and Ecotools make great brushes.
9. Pressed Powder. Any kind really. :)
10. Lipstick. Revlon, NYX…Mac…all good.

EDIT: Wow, just realized I left out mascara. NYX Doll Eyes is really good!

thanks for the answers so far…..i agree that i am probably more hesitant about people sticking their dirty hands in the makeup…. they definitely don’t monitor that!

Tegan is technically correct, but sometimes customers get to the jars while staff are busy with other customers and stick their fingers in, or apply the lipstck to their skin. Or the staff are just sales staff rather than beauty therapists or makeup artists, and don’t go through the proper steps to maintain a high level of hygene or recognise certain skin issues.
Salons are checked by the department of health and have to maintain high levels of hygiene. You are also less likely to have to wait to get served. If you want mineral makeup try Musq’s salon. They are a truly natural (no bismuth like ID) Aussie mineral makeup and really helpful.
