How can I find participating Locks of Love Salons in Milwaukee?

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

The website for Locks of Love no longer lists participating salons, but tells you to go to salons and look for their signs in the window. I don’t have the time to go around the city looking for signs. Any suggestions?

I too would call around since the site doesn’t list the salons anymore. Don’t forget, you can still have your regular stylist cut your hair (if you have one)

"Attention Donors: Your own stylist can assist you in accomplishing your hair donation. If you wish, print the hair donations requirements and take them to your stylist when donating. This will provide all the needed information the stylist may ask for. Your comfort level when donating can be best accomplished by choosing a salon you are already familiar and comfortable with. Locks of Love does not recommend salons to donors and is not"

the "Donation requirements" that is mentioned in the excerpt above can be found at the links below.

What is the stuff that salons add to the spa pedicure water?

Saturday, March 6th, 2010

I just bought a home pedicure spa and I want to buy that stuff that the salons use in their water…sometimes its blue and turns the water blue.

The blue stuff is actually just a sanitizer, it’s not what makes your feet feel great. Best thing to do is soak, apply an oil (even cooking oil) and sugar or salt to scrub, and pumice off the callouses. Finish with a nice thick lotion and you’re set.

What shampoo do they use most in salons?

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

I notice everytime I get my hair cut my hair’s texture is so soft smooth and manageable. I can tell the difference even when it’s wet. Usually when I wash my hair at home it will dry quickly and frizz out and when they wash it it seems it stays wet much longer and when it dries it’s much softer. When I try to wash my hair with store bought shampoo I can never duplicate the results. It always works this way when a salon washes my hair. Even at the lower end salons. I know that cutting it adds to the reason my hair feels healthier but I can tell the difference even before and durring it is cut. Anyone have any idea?

it used to be Paul Mitchell, but now we use alot more "Bed Head" and "Dumb Blond". bec. its easier on all type of hair..the less alcohol in shampoo the better. Paul Mitchell product uses a little too much alcohol, although it smells really nice, it drys your hair like crazy.

How do I find out a nail salons prices before I go?

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

I have a list of nail salons in my area, but I’m most, if not all, don’t have websites. Is there like a nail-salon-and-prices-finding-website someone could tell me about?

Call the nail salon directly and ask.

What is the proper tipping amount at bars and hair salons?

Sunday, February 28th, 2010

I know that at restaurants, proper tipping gratuity is 20% if the service is decent. Does the same rule apply at bars and hair salons?

Tipping is a choice. If you can be generous then thank the person who is providing you a service that you are especially appreciative of. If you wish to frequent that bar or salon you should probably be generous. But it is totally up to you how much you can afford to tip. It is complete bullsh*t that people expect to be tipped for services they are already paid to give.

What hair salons in Atlanta can do crazy colors?

Friday, February 26th, 2010

I want to dye my hair in blueish green streaks (it’s already black) but the only "outrageous" colors salons provide is red. But I want something different. I was also considering like a magenta which is kinda close to red. Well please just any place that does any colors besides blonde, brown, or red.

Save money, do it yourself.

How do I find great salons in my area?

Wednesday, February 24th, 2010

I want to get my hair cut/styled for highschool and I’ve already been to a bunch of different places (not high end ones, ones like first choice, great clips, etc etc.) Other than the Yellow Strawberry I don’t know how I can just find a brand new salon that cuts hair REALLY well. Nothing THAT expensive…
Anyways. Any ideas how I can find good salons in my area? Tyvm.

Go to yelp and look at rviews in your area. http://www.yelp.com and look for a salon in your area.

What nail salons do black nails and white tips?

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

Ever since I have saw Bill Kultiz with black nails and white tips I have loved them. What Salons in Lexington Ketnucky do them?
thanks guys.

I did ask once, but she was like "OH we can’t do that." SO hopfully I will be able to find another place.

As far as I know, any decent salon will be willing to do whatever you want to your nails – if you ask for black nails with white tips, then they’ll probably do it for you (after all, it’s only like a French manicure :-] )

What are some the names and addresses of hair salons that do Japanese straightening?

Saturday, February 20th, 2010

I’ve been straightening my hair everyday for three years now, I’m so sick and tired of using a flat iron. Does anyone know any salons that do relaxing of curls and or Japanese straightening, or if you give me some info about the procedure. I have thin hair and I’m tired of killing it more with irons.

try yellow book. if your hair is already damaged from irons there is no telling if you can do the " Japanese straightening"……..not everyone here is from your area. therefore you need to call around for prices and may even take up the opportunity for a free consultation to determine if the chemical procedure is possible on your hair.
