@airbrushedhottie … @airbrushedhottie It’s called the dominican blowout bc its specialized for afro textured hair. They do similar blow outs in white salons, but it doesn’t take as much technique bc the hair is straight. With the dominican technique I have seen them take really course hair, and only with a dryer make it straight and curled at the bottom (looks like a wrap). It lasts through humid weather here in florida, but after you sweat it out (like if you really work out or get it on w your man lol) its done.
looks very pretty.. … looks very pretty…..i live in NYC and im a dominican hair salon addict…i must say tho they are much faster when blowing your hair out up here plus they curl the ends with the brush as there blowing it…and my stylist doesnt apply that much heat, which i love cus im not cringing in my chair like head is on fire
maybe the looser 3c … maybe the looser 3c curls and straighter can get away with doing this as routine to keep their hair in a straight style, but even if your hair is thick, healthy and strong anyone with 4a or 4b can not get away with doing this everyday i’m guessing..and the effect doesn’t last..it reverts easily and almost immediately to afro texture again..i can’t imagine it lasting even half way thru a week with cool, non-humid weather and triple shower capping your hair and bathing on cold water for no steam.
@airbrushedhottie . … @airbrushedhottie …its normally called just called a “blow out” but the technique the domincans use is how they took the name.depending on what type of hair u have the heat is enough sometimes too much for very fine hair.
i don’t know why it … i don’t know why it is called a dominican blowout. i’m sure i have seen and been to all kinds of other salons where they do this. my sister used to have her hair blown out like this every once in a while when she wanted it straight for a change from afro without having to relax it..don’t know how many days it lasts tho..it’s probably all gone in the morning, or at least well on it’s way to reversing back to curly, esp if it’s humid weather or you’ve been in a steamy shower.
anyone can learn … anyone can learn this technique on themselves all it takes it patience and lots of practice. I usually go to the DR salon if I am being lazy to do my own hair which is maybe 3 times a year. I strictly allow them to do only wash and sets. I have been to many salons and none of them can do a perm correctly. All of them apply the perm from root to tip which causes over processing and serious damage. But they do know how to give a great blow out.
I honestly believe … I honestly believe latinas give the best blowouts ever. I had my hair washed and blown out in a Venezuelan salon and the stylist used a technique very similar to what this woman is doing. It was the best my relaxed hair has ever looked. I’m mixed race (from the caribbean) with long hair and when she was done it was light and full of shine. I’ve been longing to return to Venezuela just to get my hair done. lol.
