What is the penalty for working in a hair salon, washing hair without a permit?
Do both the salon and the worker get penalized, or is it just the employee? My daughter was hired as an "assistant". She was supposed to be washing towels, sweeping, etc.. Since she is going to school in the fall for her license, she thought it would be a good way to get a taste of the working environment. Now they have her washing hair, too. Not just when they’re in a pinch, but like, it’s her job now along with the other stuff. I know by law she’s not supposed to do that without 600 hours of school and her permit and was wondering what penalty is involved. Thanks for any help you can offer.
She is mixing and removing hair color, foils, etc.. not applying it. According to the NJ cosmetology licensing board website.. you must have 600 hours/permit to wash hair. So, I would think she would be subject to penalty, too.
