No, there’s no ‘psuedo-scientific quackery’ about it. Firstly, I wouldn’t dream of suggesting that ANYONE –scientist or otherwise– would say people MUST remove pubic hair for cleanliness. Secondly, I believe many would recommend against it.

No duh that hair traps odors…but so do the folds of your skin that don’t have hair. People don’t have hair inbetween their toes, and yet there is odor there to.
Just by being human you’re going to have odors which is why we have cleansing options like soap and water and deodorant. Shaving anything on your body is a choice of pure vanity.

It is also a SCIENTIFIC FACT that hair traps both sweat & odor! And, not all hygienic progress can be linked to – there was a time when tub bathing was far less common! Although, it was also seen as total debauchery… so perhaps there IS a link after all.
